BACKPACK TOYS TEDDY RUXPIN had been produced in 2005 and I had bought one to do a review.

He is very light and is the same size as the WOW/PLAYSKOOL version, he also uses (4) "AA" batteries like them as well.

The new Teddy Ruxpin uses the same animatronic setup as the WOW/PLAYSKOOL versions, the servo motor noise is somewhat noticeable as in all the T.R.'s.He can only do one movement at a time meaning he can move his mouth and then his eyes, unlike the Original WOW version which could do both at once.

I like the battery tray which needs to be unscrewed in order to replace batteries,and the screw itself has a retaining ring so it will not get lost.It may be a little harder to lose these.

Here is the newest and best feature of the new Illiop, he uses the unique digital (MP3) program cartridge,which looks like a small book.The sound quality is very good,and the cartridges are easily pulled out and pushed in.

The player itself is nice with it's own separate on/off switch.Handling the sound is a snap with a stop/play, volume control (low,medium,loud), and skip/fast forward buttons, which are all easy for a small child to push.

There are now (2) books the Picture Book which has beautiful illustrated pictures, and Story-Song Book that has all the text for reading along with the story.The Stories are expanded or longer,I believe they are two separate original stories combined to make one.

I also like that his small vest is removable for easy washing, and like the Original WOW version is easily removed and  put back on.

Packaging for this little guy is even better than the original,very colorful and bright, easy to catch you or a kiddles eye on the shelf in a store "mommy-daddy can I have one".

But there are a few things that I would like to state as well.Battery life on him was good, playing one all day like I did put a slight strain on consumption.Also a small point but his head is a slight pancake flat shape, not to much contours on his puffy cheeks like the Original WOW version.

The final verdict from (4) Teddy Ruxpin connouseurs my wife,son,daughter, and myself is, it is nice, but we will stick with the Original WOW versions.

I will find a cheaper one to take apart and have internal pictures available sometime in the near future.
